Role Overview

This role will focus on providing high-level legal guidance within the dynamic and rapidly evolving Fintech sector, particularly in areas such as payments, investments, crypto, and e-money. The successful candidate will be responsible for offering strategic legal counsel on complex regulatory, contractual, and product-related matters, ensuring compliance, and mitigating risks across cutting-edge Fintech products and services.

Your mission

  • Product development support. Collaborate cross-functionally to design and launch new products and services in Payments, Crypto, and e-money. This includes the ability to understand and integrate basic technical and engineering considerations into legal analysis to ensure alignment with product design.
  • Risk assessment & management. Identify legal and regulatory risks and propose effective mitigation strategies aligned with our risk appetite.
  • Regulatory compliance. Advise on relevant financial regulatory requirements, including PSD2, AML/KYC, e-money regulations, MiFID II, and alternative currencies/crypto-specific frameworks.
  • Contract drafting & negotiation. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements (e.g., partnership, service level, vendor, and technology agreements).
  • Stakeholder management. Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing pragmatic guidance and fostering a culture of legal awareness.
  • Monitoring & reporting. Track emerging trends and regulatory developments in Fintech, Payments, and Crypto, communicating potential impacts to the organization.

Your ideal profile:

  • Relevant education. You’re a qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5 years PQE, and ideally 8–10 years of professional legal experience.
  • Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge. You bring deep knowledge of relevant financial regulations, including PSD2, AML/KYC requirements, EMRs, MiFID II, and crypto-related frameworks. You also bring a demonstrable track record in handling complex matters within the Fintech, Payments, Investments, and/or Crypto space, preferably in both private practice (international law firm) and in-house settings at innovative companies.
  • Analytical mindset. You’re able to dive deep into complex legal issues, exercise strong judgment, and make risk-based decisions.
  • Technical and commercial awareness. You have a clear understanding of the basics of technology and engineering processes, especially as they relate to product development in the Fintech and Payments space. Prior experience working closely with technical teams is a significant plus. You’re also able to balance legal risks with commercial considerations, especially in fast-paced, innovative environments.
  • Language fluency. English fluency (both written and spoken) is essential, while knowledge of Italian or French is a plus.
  • Proactive, results-oriented, and with a strong sense of ownership. You’re able to work independently, driving projects to successful completion, and thrive in a rapidly changing environment, adapting to shifting priorities with ease. You’re a collaborative team player, fostering strong relationships while sharing knowledge and contributing to a positive, inclusive atmosphere. You are deeply  passionate about the Fintech, Payments, and Crypto sectors, and eager to explore emerging technologies and new business models.
