Company description

We have 8 operations distributed between Brazil and Peru – three of which are refineries and six mines –, including the largest underground zinc mine in Peru (Cerro Lindo) and the largest zinc refinery in the Americas (Cajamarquilla). As a result, we account for 4% of the world’s zinc production and are the only producer of metallic zinc in Latin America, excluding Mexico. We also produce copper, lead, silver and gold as by-products.

Responsibilities and assignments

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Drafting and Reviewing Agreements: Prepare and review a wide range of commercial agreements, including industry-standard contracts such as purchase and sale agreements, logistics services agreements, and standard terms and conditions.
  • Legal Advisory: Provide advice on a variety of legal issues to ensure compliance with applicable laws, focusing on corporate developments, commercial and contractual matters, subsidiary governance, and regulated markets.
  • Meeting Management: Manage processes and procedures for board and shareholders meetings, ensuring familiarity with local corporate laws and regulations.
  • Legal Research: Conduct legal research to support ongoing projects and compliance initiatives.
  • Day-to-Day Legal Management: Assist in the daily management of legal and compliance matters to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Policy Implementation: Aid in the implementation, administration, and enforcement of core corporate policies and procedures, including contract database management and legal server organization.
  • Internal Client Engagement: Participate in meetings and conference calls with internal clients to discuss their projects and provide legal insights.
  • Follow-Up and Document Drafting: Follow-up of internal client requests and drafting of legal opinions and documents under the supervision of senior legal staff.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Actively engaged in knowledge-sharing initiatives to promote best practices within the team.
  • Communication Facilitation: Foster effective communication with leadership, encouraging them to seek legal advice and guidance prior to undertaking actions that may have legal implications.

Requirements and qualifications

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Level: Candidates should possess a university degree in law (Master 1 or 2), ideally complemented by an L.L.M. degree obtained from an English-speaking country.
  • Field of Study: Legal.

Languages Required:

  • English: Required.
  • French: Required.
  • Additional Languages: Postgraduate/MBA in relevant fields is desirable.

Experience:

  • Candidates should have initial professional experience through internships in international law firms or natural resources industry.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities with a focus on problem-solving.
  • Negotiation Skills: Proficient in negotiation, writing, and drafting skills, particularly related to transactional and other contractual arrangements.
  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized and detail-oriented, with solid business orientation and acumen.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Proficient in software applications, including SAP, Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, and ACL (desirable).
