Senior Legal Counsel - German Market

The Senior Legal Counsel – German Market is responsible for ensuring that legal risks are identified, captured and managed by the Legal team in coordination with internal stakeholders within the applicable company standards and risk appetence levels. He/she will generally be involved in legal matters with a specific focus on the German insurance market

Your responsibilities will be as follows:

• Providing legal advice to the company in respect of development of solutions and business relationships with clients and partners;
• Drafting and negotiating partners agreements, ad hoc client documents and any other relevant legal document;
• Developing excellent working relationships with internal stakeholders, providing them with guidance and support on various aspects of the company’s legal matters;
• Legal watch (new laws and regulations relevant to our business) conducting legal research and follow-up on legal and regulatory changes to ensure the company is well placed to respond to changes;
• Advising management and staff on all legal matters including training;
• Managing complaints and litigation, liaising with external counsels, in order to support the corporate position;
• Participating in corporate projects and product development;
• Contributing to the legal reporting to the head office management bodies in a timely manner;
• Ensuring full compliance with all Group legal and local requirements that are within the scope of the legal function especially defining risks and legal and regulatory requirements.

• Law degree in Germany and preferably Bar admittance;
• German Native and fluency in English;
• 5-8 years’ experience, in the life insurance or financial sector;
• Contract drafting skills and experience in the fields of contractual risks and management of client queries or complaints/litigation;
• Knowledge of Luxembourg financial sector and of the German insurance environment;
• Ability to work in a team and under pressure;
• Attentive to detail and report drafting skills;
• Ability to prioritise tasks, exercise sound judgment and creativity in finding solutions.
